monterey.id is an independent, privately operated guide to Monterey, California for first-time visitors, repeat visitors and people moving to the city. It is not affiliated with the City of Monterey, the Monterey County visitors bureau, MST or any business mentioned, and it is not a booking engine or a travel agency.
What we publish
Neighborhood comparisons, planning guides, a month-by-month climate table built from NOAA data, a hotel room-tax calculator and navigation pages for transport, healthcare and local services. Every factual claim is tied to an official or primary source listed on the page, with the date we read it.
How we make money
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you book or buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We also collect sign-ups for a free city guide. Affiliate relationships never change which areas or options we describe. Read the full affiliate disclosure.
How we research and correct
We compile content from official sources, label our own judgments as "our assessment", and do not claim first-hand visits we have not made. See the editorial policy for methodology, review cadence and how to report an error.
Who it is for
People deciding where to stay, how to get around, when to visit and what to prioritize in Monterey, plus new residents who need a practical checklist.
